Education

Hate is Wrong’s commitment to inclusion, diversity, and anti-bullying centers around education. The face of this education is Esera Tuaolo, whose public speaking falls in line with Hate is Wrong’s purpose and who donates to Hate is Wrong part of his speaking fees.

After retiring from the National Football League, Esera came out as gay in 2002 on HBO’s Real Sports, and began a career of advocating for the LGBT community. He has worked with different sports organizations, like the NFL and the Gay and Lesbian Athletics Foundation, to combat homophobia. He makes and has made appearances on television programs such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen Show, and Good Morning America, and has helped reject a homophobic state marriage bill by testifying before the legislature.

Esera’s advocacy work also involves speaking at colleges, organizations, and corporations about homophobia and inclusion in order to create a better environment for students, members, and employees. The following is just a short sample of those colleges and organizations:

  • Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee
  • Motorola, Inc.
  • Human Rights Campaign
  • Dell, Inc.
  • Xavier University
  • National Football League
  • Texas A&M University
  • University of Michigan
  • Williams College
  • University of Hawaii
  • Cargill, Inc.
  • University of Florida
  • Kraft Foods Global, Inc.

Hate is Wrong is proud to have Esera spread its message of inclusion, diversity, and anti-bullying, and is thankful to share in his speaking fees. To book Esera and support Hate is Wrong’s purpose, please fill out the form found on our contact page.
